immigrants in our own land

my impression:  I like how he was talking about how they have hope for a new life but it all stays the same and they have to work harder than before.
Theme: The entire poem in expectations versus reality the immigrants come "each with their heart hoping they'll get a chance to change their lives." the reality is that barely anybody will change their goals.
tone: The poem has a hopeful tone "we are born with dreams in our hearts/looking for better days ahead.
mood: the mood of the poem is feeling bad for whoever the author is talking about.

An earth shattering fart

my response to sound of thunder is that  I like how much detail there was it is crazy how even after the guy told him to not go off the path he still went and didn't believe the effects that that one step had on his whole existence. The story was very nerve racking when they came face to face with the dinasour. I loved when they were saying six million years into the future their president kieth just won but after they came back and after he stepped on the butterfly everything changed I feel like this story is a very good example of the butterfly effect where one thing can change something forever.

Emersons child

4. If I was walking down the street and a 10 year old stopped me asking about Emerson and self reliance I would say that his main point is about believing in your self. Throughout his whole article the main idea he talked about is individualism taking matters into your own hands people will try to bring you down your whole life but just to remember that you have the key to yourself and that is the only thing that can change the way you feel or change how you think about your self. I would tell the 10 year old just to remember to be themselves even if some one is putting you down so badly just be you.

EMERSON FOR THE YOUNG BUCK

What I have learned from on self reliance is that everybody has something to contribute into the world one way or another. Emerson believes that all of us have potential to be something and we are either to shy or lazy to do anything about our dreams our whole lives we are put in a tiny box just to get the life sucked out of us but this essay shows that that is a waste of time we really only have one life maybe and this is really how we want to spend it scared to say something afraid that someone will judge that is what Emerson taught me.
